Overview

Diazolidinyl Urea (commonly known under trade names such as Germall® II) is a white, free-flowing, water-soluble powder used as an antimicrobial preservative in cosmetics and personal care products. It functions by slowly releasing formaldehyde, which disrupts microbial DNA and protein synthesis. Diazolidinyl Urea is effective at low concentrations and provides long-lasting protection against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and yeasts. It is typically used in conjunction with other preservatives like parabens or IPBC for enhanced performance.
